The Alfa Romeo Giulia captured Motor Trend's 2018 Car of the Year® honor ahead of 25 other models.

In Motor Trend's third-largest field ever, judges named the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year®. Winning the award, the Giulia best represented exceptional value, superiority in its class and impact on the automotive scene.

Motor Trend loved the Giulia more and more each time they drove it, with guest judge Chris Theodore, a former Ford and Chrysler product development executive, saying, "Best steering, best chassis – this car saves the sport sedan market."

The award marks the first time an Italian brand has won Motor Trend Car of the Year®.

It's not the first time Alfa's Giulia has received heaps of praise from the team at Motor Trend in 2017. Earlier this year, the Giulia outdueled others in MT's Big Test of 2.0-liter compact luxury sedans; the likes of Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz all fell prey to the Italian sedan.

Two other areas that made a big impact on Motor Trend's outcome was value and safety. Value was clear to the judges, as Alfa Romeo has offered the Giulia as a lease for as low as $299 per month for 24 months. Safety was easily recognizable as well, with the Giulia earning a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The most telling line from the team at Motor Trend was, "For those who won't settle for ubiquity, we present the 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year®: the Alfa Romeo Giulia."

Congratulations to the Alfa Romeo brand and their Giulia model on being named 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year®.
