Five Honda models were recently named a 2020 Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) while another Honda model was awarded a Top Safety Pick+ rating. This brings a total of six Honda models that have been recognized by the IIHS.

The five Honda models that received a Top Safety Pick were the 2020 Accord, 2020 CR-V, and three 2020 Civic models (Coupe, Sedan, and Hatchback). Those five all earned a Top Safety rating when equipped with specific headlights.

The 2020 Honda Insight earned the Top Safety Pick+ award for receiving superior safety ratings by IIHS. The Honda Insight achieved the highest possible rating of “GOOD” in all six crash worthiness tests. This is not the first time the Honda Insight has been recognized as an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus. The sedan was also named a Top Safety Pick+ back in 2019.

Honda Sensing and Collision Mitigation System earned a “SUPERIOR” rating for frontal crash prevention and is standard equipment on all six models.

To earn a Top Safety Pick award, a vehicle must earn “GOOD “ crash worthiness ratings in all test models, including in the challenging passenger-side small overlap test. A top-rated vehicle must also offer front crash prevention that earns an “ADVANCED” or “SUPERIOR” rating in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian testing. A rating of “GOOD” or “ACCEPTABLE” ratings must be earned for available headlights. Top Safety Pick+ rated vehicles must achieve the same “GOOD” or “ACCEPTABLE” rating for their standard headlights.

The fact that six Honda models have been recognized as a Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ clearly proves that Honda views safety as a top priority.
