Jeep has been making several changes
this past year. In addition to bringing back the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, adding a third row to the Grand Cherokee, and introducing a hybrid Jeep Wrangler, many people may not realize that the previous-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is still in production, and it’s being sold as the 2022 Grand Cherokee WK.

What is the difference?

The Grand Cherokee WK is simply a continuation of the last-generation Grand Cherokee, which first went on sale in 2011, and is still being sold alongside the new Grand Cherokee. The practice of continuing to produce an outgoing generation when the new model is already on sale certainly isn’t a new idea, and Stellantis itself did this recently with the Ram 1500 Classic. And when the old one offers considerable savings like the Grand Cherokee WK does, it is definitely worth looking into.

Popularity is one big reason Jeep continues to make the WK. The previous-generation version remains in demand amongst buyers – it was name a Best SUV to Buy for 2022 and has the strongest sales of its run in 2021.

“The Jeep brand has the opportunity to take advantage of the WK capacity and utilize the volume to increase market share, and we will build it to match demand,” Stellantis Communications Manager Lisa Barrow said.
