Jeep Gladiator Gets a Glow Up for 2024
Jeep recently revealed the 2024 Jeep Gladiator at the Detroit Auto Show – and it looks like the Jeep truck is getting the same refresh treatment as the 2024 Jeep Wrangler.
“If you’re used to looking at the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, you’ll notice that it is very familiar,” Jim Morrision, head of Jeep in North America, said ahead of the unveiling at the North American International Auto Show. The ’24 Gladiator “is 100% truck and 100% Jeep…like Wrangler, it has more capability, more technology, more refinement, and of course, more statement.”
The 2024 Jeep Gladiatorcomes with a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with UConnect5 software, a windshield-integrated “stealth” antenna, new Mohave and Rubicon X model options, and of course, an updated seven-slot grille. The impressive 12.3-inch touchscreen replaces the previous 7.0-inch and 8.4-inch units. According to Car and Driver, the new infotainment system uses Uconnect5 software, which comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has improved voice commands and backlight technology that is said to make the screen easier to see in direct light.
Designed to take it slow off-road, the new Gladiator still has a host of features for keeping occupants safe on the street. For 2024, every model adds side-curtain airbags in both rows. Jeep has also made structural changes to improve side-impact performance, and the second row has outboard seatbelts. The Gladiator Sport S and above also now have standard forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control.
In addition to being virtually slimmer, its textured slots are said to help improve engine cooling. With Jeep discontinuing the optional diesel V-6, the Gladiator is destined to get Jeep’s 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain.
“With refreshes, we’re already seeing growth on Wrangler sales. So, expect the same sort of thing once we get this into the marketplace,” Morrison said. “The Wrangler and the Gladiator community are so hardcore, they know that we’re doing this stuff before we even know we’re doing it sometimes, and I think a lot of them were waiting for the new one.”
